Features

SNMP and ping monitoring for any device

NetNMS monitors any device that speaks SNMP v2c or v3 and checks reachability with ICMP ping, including latency and packet loss. This covers routers, switches, OLTs and Linux or Windows servers with SNMP enabled. Interfaces show status, traffic, errors and utilisation.

Devices and templates

Add devices one by one or import them from CSV, and organise them by site (area and POP). Templates for Cisco, Huawei (including NE40E), Juniper EX, V-SOL, BDCOM, Grandstream and generic SNMP match automatically by sysObjectID and sysDescr.

Interfaces

Port discovery, status and traffic are collected with 64-bit counters. Open a port to see a live graph that updates every second.

Servers and other SNMP devices

Linux and Windows servers with SNMP enabled, and any other SNMP device, can be added like a network device. NetNMS uses what the device exposes over SNMP and ICMP ping.

Questions about this feature

Which SNMP versions are supported?

SNMP v2c and v3. SNMP credentials are stored encrypted.

Can NetNMS monitor Linux and Windows servers?

Yes, when SNMP is enabled on the server. NetNMS reads what the server exposes over SNMP and checks it with ICMP ping.

How does ping monitoring work?

NetNMS uses ICMP ping to show up or down status, latency and packet loss for each device.
